Amanda and Matt were married on a gorgeous (and hot!) July day at The Black Stallion event home in Corolla, NC. Incredibly organized with a background in event planning, Amanda immediately knew The Black Stallion was the perfect venue for all of her guests traveling from New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida and all over the country. Amanda also knew that while she wanted a week at the beach with all of her family and friends, she did not want a beach wedding. Amanda and Matt opted for a black tie, upscale affair that was glamorous and fun. Setting the tone was Amanda’s uniquely stunning designer gown and Jimmy Choo heels. The décor was black, white, modern and edgy, but also approachable. Floral accents by Honeysuckle Events in whites and blush and pink created an ethereal backdrop for the ceremony. Amaranth & Artifact provided the bar and lounge and white dining tables while Ocean Atlantic finished out the other rentals including black chairs. The finishing touch came in the dancing space which was rocking with DJ Teddy and which was transformed with white velvet draping and disco balls by Stage Right Lighting.
Amanda and Kerri started planning almost two years before the wedding and in that time, Kerri and Amanda really got to know each other. While all weddings are a celebration of love and a joining of families, Amanda and Matt’s day was especially poignant: it was the first time the families had gathered since the unexpected passing of Amanda’s father just a few months before the wedding. Incorporating the memory of a loved one, especially a parent, is always important, but you need to balance all of the emotions involved and come up with the right way to honor the memory for each individual couple. Kerri isn’t sure how she would have handled all the feelings, but she recalls that Amanda was incredible. And Matt’s sense of humor (he’s a comedian) certainly helped! Watching Amanda with her Mom and sister on her wedding day was so very special. And seeing the love and joy and laughter that Amanda and Matt share brought home to us once again how lucky we are to be a part of this special time in our clients’ lives.
