Most definitely: Oceanfront ceremonies are typically done in conjunction with renting the larger special event vacation homes on the Outer Banks. But, sometimes brides/grooms will utilize public beach accesses, such as the one in Pine Island, where there is parking available. In the Coquina Beach area of Nags Head, a permit must be obtained from the National Park Service. Same thing applies to Pea Island area of beach. No other areas require a permit. Make sure there is decking with stairs leading over the dune line to the ocean. Consider high tide when planning your ceremony time so there is adequate beach area for you and your guests. Remember that the sun sets over the sound waters, not the ocean, so if you want water views, you might think soundfront instead of oceanfront to capture sunset/orange skies. Realize that you have elderly guests who may not be able to make the walk in the sand and will need to stay on the deck/dune line. Remember to tell your guests to dress appropriately, because pantyhose and high heels don't mix well with sand. Always prepare for a backup plan in case of high winds, crashing waves, or rain.
